MONUMENT VALLEY... Watercolor.

Came upon a photo of Monument Valley which we visited a few years ago... 

Love the colors and beauty of this area... Many photos were taken while visiting.. Why I choose this one, I'll never know...

RUBY MOUNTAINS STUDIES with color..watercolor

Here is my next study of the  

RUBY MOUNTAINS 

found just outside 

Elko, Nevada

In my last post I tried the view of the mtns. during the afternoon ..   Most evenings, when the sun is setting in the west,  the glow shines on mountains and forms a beautiful pink wash.  It is difficult to paint and get the exact colors.   I feel both of the paintings are "overworked".. Will continue to work and enjoy the peace of mind I experience  while studying these sunsets..

Was surprised how easy it is to get the desired shadows on the awesome mountains.. Plan to try other colors soon...

POINSETTIA.. Oil...

Finally, a picture worth posting.. 

The familiar Poinsettia was named after the American minister to Mexico,

who discovered the plant there in 1828.

Dear Kathryn opened her wonderful art studio for Amy and me to try some oil painting.

PEACEFUL SCENE...Watercolor

Well, any followers must have given up on me by now... So many weeks skipping painting and then not producing anything worth posting has made for a very long dry spell..

This picture is a simple Chinese brush work I enjoyed  painting. 

Maybe it will be the start of more progress.

These cuties were painted for my niece, Kathy.   She has a collection of flamingos.  

Am hoping she will enjoy this picture 

as much I enjoyed painting this "relaxed" style.
